Seoul Belongs To The Kyonggi-do Region
Seoul belongs to the Kyonggi-do region. Kyonggi-do means "the area surrounding capital". It was once the seat of kings and has been a politically important area ever since 18 B.C., when Korea was divided into three nations during the Period of the Three Kingdoms. Kyonggi-do has been the center of educational opportunities, professional training, and leadership in Korea. As the center of the Kyonggi-do region and all of Korea, living in Seoul engenders personal prestige to its citizens.
